  Meet Linda Castor

                     Linda K. Castor, R.N., L.C.P.C.

Linda received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois in 1985.  She maintains an active Registered Nurse license in the State of Illinois.  Linda received her Master of Arts Degree in Human Development Counseling (HDC) from the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS) with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.  She is currently a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois.

Linda’s passion for helping others lose weight led to her co-facilitating group sessions during her internship for eating disorders at the Mind and Body Clinic at St. John’s Hospital.  There, she learned how to guide individuals in their quest for a healthier lifestyle by combining psychotherapy and her nutritional-medical background as a nurse.

At The Children’s Center in Springfield, Illinois, Linda conducted play therapy, individual sessions with adolescents and family therapy sessions in the Child and Family Diagnostic Clinic.  For nearly two years, Linda was an associate in a psychiatric private practice where she counseled her clients for weight management and facilitated healing in those who experienced emotional abuse.

A note from Linda:  As a teenager, my afterschool menu consisted of ice cream and CocaCola, and I gained ten pounds in one year.  I decided to join the track team and slimmed back down to my normal size.  Twenty years later, my weight issues surfaced again when I became pregnant and gained about 100 lbs; five times the normal expected weight gain for women.  During my pregnancy, I experienced denial about staying fit and literally "ate for two".  After the delivery, I "woke up" from both the anesthesia and denial and truly saw my huge body for the first time.

Since then, I have never looked back because I now have the tools to stay fit and healthy.  I have finally learned how to handle emotional triggers that always come up from time to time.  I have maintained my current weight for 15 years.

NOTE:  Linda and Nancy have recently compiled and organized the information used in their program, and it is now available as an easy to follow book called, Freedom From Weight Worries Forever...The Weight Plan For Life.  If you are too busy to take classes or just prefer to work on your own, this book can be used to successfully help you achieve your healthy lifestyle goals.  Our book can be ordered through this website.  For more information go to the Read our Book  page.
